At SMOKEWOOD Garzón, we strive to blend luxury with environmental stewardship, creating a unique space where guests can rejuvenate and reconnect with nature. SW.G and our upcoming beach house (SALTWOOD La Pedrera, coming 2025) are sanctuaries. of tranquility and healing,
set in stunning landscapes that invite solitude, comfort,
and a deep communion with the environment.

THE HOUSE
SW.G HAD A FORMER LIFE AS LA PACHAMA
Through what seemed like a serendipitous chain of events, new owners, Daniela and Mimi, discovered this place—or perhaps it called them. From the moment Daniela set foot on the land, she knew they were meant to journey together. Six years would pass though, during which La Pachama was purchased, lovingly and exquisitely renovated and renamed by its previous owners, before Daniela and Mimi would finally reconnect with it. The timing was perfect, and the wait was well worth it.
“…his heart whispered, ‘Be aware of the place where you are brought to tears. That’s where I am, and that’s where your treasure is."
Paulo Cohelo, The Alchemist

YOUR HOSTS
Mimi and Daniela are long-time friends who have committed their lives to healing the Earth. They both have traveled extensively to faraway places and cultures, engaging in adventures while leading organizations with initiatives focused on land and wildlife conservation, food system renewal, and immersive educational experiences.
They have now joined forces to create a more rooted experience of place, community, healing, and love for the Earth: SMOKEWOOD Garzon.
Daniela, originally from Argentina, has called Colorado home for the past 30 years. Her connection to Uruguay runs deep, with countless summers spent there. Since 2016, she has been actively involved in various projects in the country, returning annually and growing increasingly close to its land and people. Mimi, who lives in South Dakota and owns a farm in Chilean Patagonia, has often accompanied Daniela on trips and events in Uruguay.
In 2022, they embarked on a shared dream at SW.G. Their journey is just beginning as they immerse themselves in learning about the land and its inhabitants from local experts. While planning the future orchard, small vineyard, olive grove, vegetable and flower gardens, and additional dwellings, they are starting with what they know best: Holistic Management and Holistic Grazing. Together with their community and neighbors, they are working to revitalize the grasslands, enhancing their health and fostering habitat for the myriad wildlife species that call our farm home.
